Relay For Life - with Trisha Lynn Simon

Friday June 17th, 2011, we gathered at the Hanover Park Township, in Bartlett, IL, to participate in the Relay For Life event. This event was to help raise funds for the American Cancer Society. My family came to support our dear friend Trish Simon who is a stage IV cancer survivor. Trish is the nursing director for the Hanover Park township and helped spearhead this event. Teams came from everywhere to set up their tents and walk from dusk till dawn! (6pm - 6am) As I was told from the survivors, cancer never sleeps and neither do we! This emotional event was very special to be a part of and share with everyone.

The opening ceremonies presented the flags and the National Anthem. Survivors then spoke about their courageous stories while friends and family gathered for support.

Hundreds of luminaries lit up the walking path for the teams to begin their journey. I designed the poster in the photo for Trish- the artwork in the poster is also being printed on apparel with funds going to the Trisha Lynn Simon Foundation.

The event was a success, several thousands were raised to help find a cure for cancer!
