Life's true treasures are those that reach out and touch your mind, heart and soul in such a way that only a few words can truly express. Then, you know your encounter is real and your experience worth sharing.

On Sept 11-12 and 13th 2008 an Artist signing Event was held at BLACK TIE AFFAIR, DAY SPA & SALON in honor of Trish Simon a stage IV cancer victim. This event was inspired by Gina Freehill's "PEACE ANGELS". In an effort to share a message of peace, hope and charity, a signing donation went to TEAM TRISH to support the development of a new foundation that will support others in need.

The Peace by Piece line, designed by Gina Freehill, exclusively by Roman, Inc., is quickly gaining national appeal with it's artful presence and inspirational messages. Gina comments on the significance of it's message saying, "Everyone in the world needs peace and our lives become connected through it." One meaningful connection that has enlightened her life is the genuine friendship she has with Trish Simon, now close friend and neighbor. Gina reflected saying, "We share the same family values and support one another, also having children that are the same age and best of friends. Aware of her daily struggles, I'm sincerely moved by the way she's always giving of her time and helping others." In fact Trish gave a Peace Angel to Debra Tashjian owner of BLACK TIE AFFAIR and also a cancer victim. Both women were inspired and "Touched by a Peace Angel" and this is how the story began.

The event became something more significant than just a signing. Gina found herself in a circle of people emotionally connected to her line in that it's message lifted their spirits and encouraged their own inner peace. Many people who came were cancer victims themselves or knew someone who was sick, in need of some inspiration or perhaps some healing from within. Drawn to the stories of each angel, people were relating their messages as it reflected upon their own life or someone close to them. Gina explained how each angel represented a sign of peace and conveyed a story about the simple treasures of life that embrace the heart and soul. Spending quality time with over a hundred people, listening and sharing stories about their lives and making a connection with tears and hugs made this event very special. The meaning of the PEACE BY PIECE line has become quite powerful and touched the emotions of everyone who attended. Many contacted Gina after the event and told her they had been "Touched by a Peace Angel."

Trish Simon is a stage IV cancer victim. She formerly practiced oncology nursing and is now the Hanover Township Community Health Nurse RN, BSN. She's been a part of the Bartlett Fire Protection District for over 5 years as a FF/EMT and plays a roll in various charitable organizations including veteran's, Operation Support our Troops, Volunteer Fire Department, etc.. Trish is a wife and mother of two boys ages 9 and 3. Although she's received widespread support for herself and family through "TEAM TRISH" an organization spearheaded by the community, Trish and her husband Jeff, himself a stage II cancer victim, have established a foundation that will give back to the community and support others in need. The Trisha Lynn Simon Foundation was presented to Trish and Jeff September 7th, 2008 by the founding members of TEAM TRISH.

I recently attended a charity event featuring Gina’s work. I was struck by the fluidity and gracefulness of her figurines. I was particularly drawn to the Peace by Piece collection for its incorporation of style and substantive inspirational messaging. I was perplexed as to which of the angel figures to purchase – a gift intended for myself.

Then I found the Peace of Mind interlocking plaque and turned the focus to my brother, who is going through a painful divorce. To me, the rock-shaped pieces embody the strength he will need in the journey ahead. The sentiment written on the piece expressed my heartfelt hope that my brother be blessed with the greatest gift of all ... tranquility and peace of mind.

Dear Gina,

I want to thank you for creating an incredible line of artwork. The first time I saw your artwork was at a charity event for my friend Trisha. It caught my eye immediately. It was a beautiful angel with wings looking up to God. Then I read the phrase on the statue and it touched my heart. "Finding peace within one's self is knowing that life is beautiful because you are you. " Life to me is so incredibly precious. The journey to find the inner peace for me was and still is amazing. At times it can be challenging, we have to have faith in God and the angels we have here on Earth. Having peace within oneself and the ability to express the inner beauty of ourselves is truly a gift. My friend Trisha has that unique gift. She is one of the most amazing women I know. She is an amazing daughter, wife, friend, nurse and most importantly mother. I am very blessed to have people like Trisha in my life. The present is truly a "present", a gift that we enjoy and cherish one precious moment at a time. Thank you for expressing your inner peace, the expression of your artwork is a blessing.

I loved all of the angels because they are so beautiful and evoke a sense of peace, but when I saw the angel with the flowers holding the sun above her head, I immediately thought of my best friend in Houston.  She has long been a lover of the sun and all things growing.  She has been through a lot with hurricane Ike, caring for her 94 year old mom, and a very demanding job.  I think she could use the peace and comfort of this angel and I know she will love it!  The saying on the bottom is perfect to remind her of how special she is.  Thanks Gina!

I have collected angels since 1995 when my first angel was given to me by my best friend Carol, after my mom died of brain and lung cancer. Today, I have over 100 angels from all over the world. Every angel has a story; one that connects my heart to someone else’s.

I am blessed to have met Gina Freehill, the renowned artist and creator of the "Peace by Piece" angel collection. I met her after receiving an angel as a thank you gift from Trish Simon for holding a fundraiser for her. This Angel means everything to me because of her beautiful saying on her dress,
" Finding Peace within one's self is knowing your life is beautiful because you are you". It completes my cabinet with my latest story.

I believe people come in and out of your life for a specific reason to touch you somehow, whether to deliver love, learn lessons, help those in need, or become the teacher for others to learn. So, angels and their stories are monumental in my life. They mean everything to me as I give angels as gifts to all I know and hope to create their own stories.

The church preschool had its annual fundraiser, and Gina so graciously donated a beautiful angel for the event. The preschool was very appreciative of this gesture. A mother of three children who had a lot going on in her life received the angle. She said that the angel was the one thing she wanted to win. I could tell by her big smile after receiving it that it definitely made her day. Many responded throughout the day commenting on how beautiful the angel was and wanted to know more about your work. I had fun displaying the angel too.

Angel Story

I have a dear friend that I met a couple of years ago. She is 83 and is one of the most amazing women I have ever met. She has survived the loss of her husband, a son, and a granddaughter and in the midst of her life’s pain, she continues to be a living example of God’s never ending love and hope.

Her 83rd birthday was approaching and I wanted to give her something special that would express what she meant to me and to so many others. She had been recently feeling like her life should be done … that at her age what was left.

I gave her the “Peace & Faith Angel” with a note that said: “Happy Birthday dear daughter”…”you are doing a great job for Me but you are not yet finished” – I love you, God

I also told her that her life was a living testimony of her faith and love for our God and how He has used her to touch the hearts of many.

She began to cry. She said that in all her years, no on has ever given her an angel. She said she truly felt as if God were speaking to her personally and it was the best gift ever. She put it on her nightstand by her bible so the angel was the last thing she would see before closing her eyes at night and the first she would see as she awakes in the morning. She also told me that if God decided to take her home during the night, that her angel was there to see her off and would be there to watch over her family until they joined her some day.

Since then she has started “working” as an assistant in an attorney’s office, leads 3 Women’s Bible study groups and helps watch over her great-grandchildren. God is definitely not done with her yet!!!! Thank you Gina, for your inspirational angels and your message of Peace.
